Dr. Schiappa offers a wide variety of out-patient services & procedures in the office:

•    BABY VISIT

In this routine appointment, the doctor monitors your baby's growth progress, measures vitals, and administers any necessary immunizations. These visits extend from birth through kindergarten, when the child begins school physicals.

•    CHECK-UP

During this routine appointment the doctor will measure vitals, refill medications, and address any new concerns. Check-ups are recommended every six months for patients in good health, and more frequently for other patients at the discretion of the doctor.

•    EAR IRRIGATION

An irrigation removes any accumulated earwax adhered to the wall of the ear canal. This procedure is done by flushing the ear canal with warm water.

•    HEMOCCULT

This test finds hidden blood in the patient's stool. It is an important screening for colon and rectal cancers.

•    IMMUNIZATION

Our office administers a wide variety of immunizations, or vaccinations, to protect patients from becoming infected with certain diseases. Some immunizations are given only once, while others require several doses. We carry all vaccinations required by the Illinois Department of Public Health. If you have questions about any additional vaccines, please contact our office.

•    NEBULIZER TREATMENT

This breathing treatment device changes medication from a liquid to a mist so it can be easily inhaled into the lungs. The doctor uses this treatment for patients with severe asthma, wheezing, bronchitis, and pneumonia.

•    OSTEOPATHIC MANIPULATION

This manual therapy realigns and repositions the body to help reduce stress and ease pain.

•    PAP SMEAR

This annual test for women is an important tool in screening for cervical cancers. During the test, the doctor collects a sample of cells from the cervix, and sends it to a lab to check for abnormalities.

•    PRESCRIPTION REFILL

Our office can refill prescriptions for any patient who has had an office visit within the last six months. If you provide us with your local pharmacy's contact information, we can refill by phone, fax, or computer. We can also mail a hand-written prescription to the home; or patients can contact mail-order pharmacies to request a refill fax to the doctor. Some medications must be picked-up at our office, or sent directly to your home. Patients on maintenance medications (blood pressure, cholesterol, etc) must schedule routine office visits to continue receiving regular refills.

•    PHYSICAL

The doctor will conduct general physicals, school physicals, sports physicals, and pre-surgical physicals. Please bring any necessary paperwork to the appointment, if applicable.

•    REMOVAL

The doctor will remove cysts, moles, and skin lesions in the office using local anesthesia. The doctor will also remove skin tags and warts through freezing, burning, or topical prescriptions. These procedures are generally scheduled on Wednesdays.

•    SUTURES

The doctor will address minor lacerations in the office with sutures. Patients can also schedule appointments to have sutures or staples removed.
